My Story

My practice as a medical herbalist is rooted in the landscape around me here in the wilds of West Wales.

It began as I was growing up on the organic farm I still share with four generations of my family - running through summer silage fields, chewing beech leaves and shooting plantain catapults. It has been woven with indigenous insights from the communities I have worked with all over the world throughout my career as a television producer and is underpinned by a deep belief in the healing power of nature.

I studied over five years at degree level to qualify with distinction in 2022. The training through the UK’s top herbal medicine schools, Betonica and Heartwood, included pharmacology, clinical examination and diagnosis, nutrition, in depth explorations of herbal medicine practice and over 600 clinical hours with exceptional herbal teachers to whom I am forever grateful. I have also trained in women’s health and massage.

With the many learnings I have gathered, I work to empower people in their health and through connection to the natural world. Herbs are offered alongside diet and lifestyle advice - all shaped around the needs of each individual.

I have always felt a keen sensitivity to the impact we have on our natural environment. I source herbs from our gardens and fields where I can, grown without any chemical inputs and buy in only the very best herbal products when I cannot produce them myself. Working with herbs that I have grown brings me into close relationship with them and I feel this enriches the medicine I offer and keeps medicine miles low.

I enjoy sharing my herbal knowledge with people - whether patients, workshop participants oraudiences on BBC Radio Wales where I have joined presenter Behnaz Aghkar to share herbal tips and seasonal medicine.

Hanging dried herbs can be seen in the background near a window, with jars of dried plants on the windowsill. The room has wooden accents and a cozy, rustic ambiance.

I undertake regular training to continue my professional development.

I am a member and a director of the National Institute for Medical Herbalists - the United Kingdom's leading professional body of herbal practitioners.

I am also a programme assistant for the Sustainable Herbs Initiative which brings together herbalists, farmers, collectors, scientists, and changemakers io work for greater sustainability, transparency and equitability in the herbal and botanical industries.
